Camping with friends
in wine country
There is a French term that wine people use to describe how the characteristics of a particular region’s environment, climate and even the earth add their flavor to the taste of grapes grown in the area: Terroir.
At Huttopia Wine Country, our own “terroir” comes from getting closer to nature in our distinctive and comfortable ready-to-camp accommodations brought to a 4,300-acre ranch and winery for an experience made to delight all the senses. About two hours from downtown San Francisco, less than two from Sacramento, and less than an hour from the heart of Napa, but a world away from the ordinary.
Take in panoramic views of the surrounding valleys from our central lodge, cool off in the pool or enjoy a game with friends old and new. Stock up on snacks and beverages with a French twist from our camp store, and make plans for the day. Everything you need is right here.
Our signature Huttopia tents have been carefully placed in harmony with nature at the Six Sigma Winery and Ranch, keeping you closer to what makes this gorgeous part of Northern California so special. From your tent’s front door, explore miles of hiking and mountain biking trails, tour the vineyards that have made Six Sigma wines international award winners, or simply relax and enjoy the fruits of the vintner’s labor in the tasting room.

Experience Wine Country from a Different Perspective
With the heart of Napa Valley just 30 minutes to our south and Lake Clear about 15 minutes north, Huttopia Wine Country is an ideal destination to take in the very best of Northern California Wine Country! Stay close to the action but away from the crowds in your own wood-frame tent surrounded by thousands of acres of natural beauty and wildlife.
From here, you can tour the winery and vineyards of the award-winning Six Sigma Winery without leaving the property. Or, choose to explore everything our area has to offer – from dozens of wineries and chef-inspired cuisine to world-class festivals and the “cleanest air in California” – there is a lot to see, taste and experience here in Lake County.
Water and Earth, Wind and Wild
It takes water and earth, wind, and even volcanoes to make our home in Lake County such a unique place. Damp sea breezes from the Pacific meet mountain ranges to the west while low valleys valley can remain arid and warm. Beneath your feet, volcanic lava and ash from eons ago mixes with organic content to support a wide range of growth.
And did you know that Clear Lake, located just 15 minutes away, is the largest freshwater lake located entirely within California? It’s also said to be approximately 2.5 million years old, making it the oldest lake in North America, so there is plenty of history and outdoor activities to explore right up the road from your tent!
GET HERE FROM THERE
Front door to tent door, it takes less than 2 hours to get from San Francisco or Sacramento to Huttopia Wine Country– and even less from Sacramento and Santa Rosa. The beautiful views out your window as you get closer makes getting here part of the fun.
DID YOU KNOW?
The climate here is often described as “Mediterranean” – a rare combination that occurs in only a small number of places throughout the world. It’s most often characterized by warm, dry and sunny days followed by cool nights. Late summer and the combination of August harvests and September winemaking makes this the busiest time of the year. It’s best to book your trip early!
Indigenous people have called the region home for thousands of years, and their descendants can still be found in the area today.
